The “Photo Contest on Human Rights” co-organized by Turkish Human Rights Institution and the Photographic Arts Federation of Turkey (TFSF) under the Technical Assistance for Support to the Local Human Rights Boards and Women’s Rights Project (LHRB) was finalized.
2947 photos themed fundamental human rights, children’s rights, political rights, equality, freedom, respect for diversity and peace competed in the contest that was implemented with the approval no 2015-19 of TFSF between 1 February – 20 March. 695 photographers participated in the contest, while 1769 of the photos were in colour photo category and 1151 were in the black & white category.
The selection committee consisting of the Photographer Hüseyin Sarı, Faculty Member at Ankara University, Physics Department; Photography Writer Tekin Ertuğ and Aysu Uraz, representative of Turkish Human Rights Institution convened on 25 March under the supervision of the TFSF Representative Ömer Gemici and selected the top three places for the colour and black & white categories.
In the colour category, Semih Soycan won the first place with his photo titled “Self-Sacrifice”, while Hüseyin Sarı’s photo titled “Mother from Kobane and her Baby” won the second place, Metin Ekinci’s photo titled “Alone” won the third place. In the Black & White category, Musa Talaşlı’s photo themed “Water Delight” won the first place, while Semih Soycan’s photo themed “Nomadic Life at Young Age” won the second place and Hakan Yaralı’s photo titled “Master” won the third place.
The firs place winners will be awarded with MacBook Air computer; the second place and third place winners will be awarded with smart phones.
